FAQ’s

How much do the programs cost?

In person or Skype tutoring is $100/hour and my Personalized Online Test Prep Course is $1000.

How long does it last?

Both programs are designed to be completed in 12 weeks. However, depending on your needs and schedule, they can be done in as little as 4 weeks or as much as 24 weeks.

How long will it take for my student to do each assignment?

Each assignment will take your student about an hour and a half. I will ask them to complete two practice tests as well, and those will take almost 4 hours each.

For the online course, how can I be sure my student is completing their assignments?

I will let you know if your student doesn't complete an assignment by the due date, and then you can assist them in getting their assignment in as soon as possible.

What does it mean the that assignments in the online course are "video-graded?"

When one of my students turns in their assignment, I load it into a program on my iPad which records both what I say and what I write as I'm grading it. The result is a 10-20 minute video file full of instruction, tips and tricks for mastering the ACT or SAT that I then email back to the student, along with their next assignment. See the homepage for a sample.

How can the video-graded assignments in the online course replace live tutoring?

In some ways, the video-graded assignments are even better than live tutoring. With live tutoring, as soon as I've delivered a piece of instruction, it's gone and lives only in the student's memory or in their notes. However, video-graded assignments exist forever as video files and students can refer back to them as often as they'd like.

What if I have a question?

Email us anytime, and we'll respond within 24 hours. If we can work it out through email, great. If not, we'll give you a call and work it out over the phone.

Do you guarantee score increases?

There's no guarantee your student's score will increase. However, in my 12 years of tutoring, I've had two students not improve their scores. One student had test anxiety that she just couldn't quite conquer and another had a 32 already (on the ACT) and he just couldn't push it any higher.

Do you tutor other tests besides the ACT and SAT?

In the past I have tutored other tests (ISEE, SSAT, HSPT, etc), but I'm focusing only on the ACT and SAT at this point.

Do you do subject tutoring? If so, which subjects?

Yes, I have extensive experience providing subject tutoring and can do this when there is time available in my schedule.  My availability for subject testing may be limited, however, due to my focus on test preparation tutoring.
